The Art of Nanjing Yunjin (Cloud Brocade)
Yunjin, or “Cloud Brocade,” originates from Nanjing and is widely regarded as the crown jewel of Chinese silk weaving. With a history of over 1,600 years and recognised as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, Yunjin once clothed emperors. What sets it apart is the zhuanghua (妆花) technique: supplementary gold wefts are meticulously hand-woven into the fabric on towering traditional drawlooms, creating patterns of extraordinary dimension. The gold you see is not printed, embroidered, or imitation — it is real gold foil wound around a silk core, interwoven thread by thread. This laborious process yields a fabric with a sculptural, cloud-like relief and a lustre that imitation metallics can never match.

Care Instructions
Dry Clean Recommended: Professional dry cleaning is preferred. If hand washing, use cold water below 25°C and soak for no more than 3 minutes.
Mild Detergents Only: Use a neutral detergent for silk. Strictly avoid alkaline soaps, bleach, and fabric softeners.
Gentle Drying: Hang to dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight, wringing, or pulling.
Low-Heat Ironing: Steam iron on low-medium heat with a pressing cloth. Never iron directly on the fabric.
Storage: Store flat in a dry, dark, and moth-proof environment to prevent permanent creases.
